I have been teaching High School Sciences for over 8 years and want to help students who want to learn about Physics, AP Physics I, Chemistry, SAT and ACT sciences from a teacher who has practical and fundamental knowledge in the field. That being said, teaching wasn’t always the plan...
I had originally planned on opening my own lab and being a research scientist. After my undergraduate degree in Chemistry, I had already done an internship at an agricultural company (which really stunk - I mean the chemicals I dealt with smelled bad), at a polymer company, at a surfactant company (soap) and was going to work for a pharmaceutical company.
I was working on my PhD in Biochemistry in genetics and anti-aging when I decided after 10+ years in the sciences – I wanted to try something different. I got my Masters in Biochemistry and went into graphic design.
I worked in graphic design and even opened my own business. To this day, I am still adept at using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign (I started with QuarkExpress). I enjoy the change of pace between using the left and right sides of my brain. But, the sciences eventually pulled me back.
With the technology and the amount of information available today, I believe the scientific mindset instilled in the minds of our youth WILL change the world. 3-D printing, organ regeneration, nanotechnology, CRISPR and the list goes on. I have experienced a lot and I have learned it was my destiny to teach those minds – which I have come to not only accept, but also to enjoy.
